Launching Luciano Bar & Bistro has taken quite a while due to a complete refurbishment both inside and out. The building has been extended to incorporate a new state of the art kitchen. A new cellar and new toilet area have also been created.
The journey started a year ago Habib and Masoud, the two brothers who own Lucianos and Angelos restaurants in Sunderland, started looking around for a new project. Habib found the old Oaklands building for sale, he then drove around every street in Oakerside Park and could not believe the quality of housing and lovely kept gardens. He was really impressed with the area and the fact it was right next to a beautiful nature reserve too. Masoud then also drove around each of the streets and agreed with the findings.
After a bit of thought, they decided to go ahead and purchase the building as they felt the area deserved something that matched the quality of the housing surrounding it.
Upon purchasing the building, they decided to completely refurbish it to fit in with the exquisite surrounding area. This project was not going to be rushed. Whilst the designs and plans were being drawn up, they rented the building for 6 months to the previous owners.
In January 2018, the previous owners left and the two brothers got to work on the building. Each part of the building was fully refurbished with not even an inch of old wiring kept. They have incorporated handmade bar tops and facias, gas inflamed sumline fire and a cosy bar area.
The furniture was picked by Habib and the brother’s good friend and interior designer Duncan Attle in Italy. The lighting was sourced from top suppliers and looks amazing. A lovely bar area has been created with cosy seating for casual drinks or a night out with friends. Whilst the bistro restaurant has a lovely ambience, there is also a menu which has been created to serve the highest quality ingredients.
The Garden Area
The garden area is still currently still under construction, however, it will have a lovely slate wall with porcelain tiles on the ground. They want it to be an area for people to come and enjoy a few drinks. The garden area will be dog-friendly.
The launch of the bar and bistro will be very soon – just a few final touches need to be added and we should have an opening date shortly.
Thank you to everyone who has wished us well and who has been part of this project. We are excited for the people of Oakerside Park and the surrounding areas, including many of our customers from our other restaurants to come and see the quality of what we have created.
